Hope you’re week is off to a great start! We’ve been having great weather down here in Southern Alabama! The Jasmine has been in full bloom the last few days and Spring is definitely in full swing! My Magnolia tree is starting to bloom and I have already cutback my Knock Out Roses! With all this pretty down here in Fairhope, Alabama, it’s about time I shared this gorgeous Southern inspired Fall Wedding! It’s full of wispy Spanish moss, grand Oak trees, a beautiful floral installation, vintage china, and a charming 140 year old church!
Sacred Heart Catholic Church is an iconic landmark in Fairhope, Alabama and is located just North of The Grand Hotel Marriott in Point Clear. This beautiful white church with its beautiful rich brown wooden doors, surrounded my majestic Oak trees covered in Spanish moss, emanates an air of Old Southern charm. It was the main inspiration for this Southern inspired Fall wedding! I’m so excited to share this gallery of photos by Lacey McLaughlin Photography! She truly captured the day in all it’s gracefulness! And many thanks to the mastermind behind this beautiful styled shoot, Katherine of Jubilee Flowers! Her vision, styling, and floral design on this shoot was AMAZING! As was, the stunning color palette of warm dusty pinks and peaches and golden hues!
I’m so thankful Katherine reached out to me to design the wedding invitation suite (aka The Camellia Wedding Invitation)! This suite is one of my all-time favorites and a memorable one too because it sparked our friendship! It has so many fine art details and Southern charm! Geez… I’m literally way too excited right now! Haha! Talking about paper always gets me going and giddy! So right off the bat, I knew I wanted to paint custom artwork of the beautiful floral installation that adorned the church doors. I love incorporating the venue into the invitation suite because it really adds that personalized touch! This watercolor painting was then used to create the custom envelope liner. Next, I paired the artistic envelope liner with a warm honey brown envelope and colorful vintage postage stamps because vintage stamps are truly timeless and add so much beauty to an invitation suite. Then, I curated a romantic font style with my hand lettering and added hand torn edges to the paper for a vintage feel. Finally, I hand illustrated a custom map card of Mobile Bay and brainstormed an “out-of-the-box” concept for the wax seal detail because I knew I did not want a typical round shaped wax seal… I was wanting a more organic shaped seal. Aiming to create something truly unique for this timeless romantic suite, I started to look around my studio office and spotted a stack of vintage serving trays that I use for styling my flat lays. Each tray I love and each attains a beautiful ornate detail of some sort. And so, I selected one with the perfect detail to carefully imprint into the melted gold wax! The result…a one-of-a-kind luxurious wax seal! The beautiful gold seal paired with deep blush, plant dyed silk ribbon was a match made in heaven. Are you swooning yet?! Well, keep scrolling down to see all the pretty from this Southern inspired Fall wedding…it’s definitely swoon-worthy!
But before you do that, read this little “snip-it” from Jubilee Flowers:
“Overlooking the bay, under a low hanging oak tree branch, we placed cane back chairs around a casual farm style table, set with gold rimmed glass chargers and dishes and highlighted with vintage style floral china. The jewel toned vintage style goblets and cut glass candle sticks added to the traditional southern decor with hemstitched white lined napkins.
The surrounding grounds of the church beckoned us as we explored the haunting and magical overgrown bayside yards of long forgotten homes with their ancient oaks and towering magnolia trees. It truly felt as if we had stepped back in time and an enchantment seemed to direct the rest of the shoot that day….the ever present eastern shore wind blew as we moved between the trees and the chapel and the flower girl played and skipped through the overgrown grass, delighting in her petal basket.”
As seen on 100 Layer Cake.
