Last month, My Lady Dye was happy to make a generous donation to Silver Sage Corral towards their annual Valentine’s Day event, The Black & Red Ball, which was held at The Farm Country Club, on February 12th, 2011, in Bandera, Texas.  Thanks to Melissa Benge this fabulous event as well as many others are organized and celebrated annually! Below is alittle insight into the woman herself, the event, and the organization.  As well as some great photos from the Black & Red Ball which features the My Lady Dye tented table cards that were donated. 25 of these handcrafted red, black, and white themed tent cards were donated to the event.  There was a fun mix of colors, cardstock layering, varied graphics, scalloped edges, and a cowboy themed font style. An elegant and festive touch to their elegant table settings and festive atmosphere!

Silver Sage Corral feeds about 26,000 meals to seniors in Bandera, Texas each year. This small city has a population of 957 within the actual city limits, which is a big number for a “small” town and county!  $5 takes care of one meal and $100 takes care of a senior for a month.  “We have such a darling community center with a community garden in the center of it, a cafeteria where seniors or town people can show up and eat daily, art and yoga classes to keep them healthy and entertained, and an event room for dancing and the monthly opry,” states Melissa.

Melissa is the owner of Gunslinger and is on the Board of Directors at Silver Sage Corral.  “I chair this annual fundraiser event each year along with Art Crawford, a local musician and our board president.  We added ten extra tables and sold out!” stated Melissa.  The room was filled with supporters donning their black and red duds and dancing to the tunes of The Almost Patsy Cline Band.  Food was catered by Clay Conoly of the famous The Dixie Dude Ranch, in Bandera, Texas. Gunslinger has about 5,000 square feet of the coolest cowboy boots, hats, clothing, furniture, and accessories for both women and men.  Graceful is across the street offering a little more feminine clothing in monochromatic colors of pearls, sterling, and neutral home accessories with a vintage flair!  Gunslinger runs a full page ad in Cowboys and Indians Magazine each month.  Please check out this great cowboy loving store and feel free to contact Silver Sage Corral at 830-796-4969, if you’d like to make a donation. Here are some great photos from the Black & Red Ball. Photos provided by Melissa Benge. Wedding Invitations staged with WATERMARK 68

Introducing my newest custom wedding invitation, The Miriam Collection! This Atlas Map Wedding Invitation is  SUPER cute, Vintage, Modern and Rustic all-in-one!  Client statement: “As for graphics, the scrolls are pretty as well as lace or anything a little vintage, southern, or feminine.  I’m not a girly-girl by any stretch but for some reason, planning this wedding has brought out insane levels of repressed feminism in me that apparently hasn’t been unearthed since I was a child wearing pink rompers!”.

{How the design process started} My client provided me with her inspiration board and possible color choices and pretty much told me to “go for it”!  Music to my ears of course! She also loved my sense of color and said to use whatever colors I wanted.   So, with the inspiration board at hand, some research on her venue, and some insight on her personality, it all started to come together and the design went in the direction of whimsy and rustic, with touches of “girl” (Does that make any sense…?  Who knows, but that’s what I call it!).

The rustic touches play into part with their wedding and reception being held outdoors in the meadows of the T-Lazy-7 Ranch in Aspen, Colorado.  Don’t want to get you too excited but check out this amazing photo of the place! Photo by Rebecca Driscoll, 2008.

Working off an Atlas theme with vintage feel, I was dying to add fun little “accents” specific to this couple and their wedding location!  So, I artistically incorporated airplanes, birds, and a map overlay to this Atlas Map Wedding Invitation.  All these elements are symbolic to the couple and to their actual wedding location. For graphics, I digitally manipulated a county map of Colorado and artistically located the venue’s location on the map with an airplane flying into Pitkin County! A stylish font type to match the venue, the Colorado state bird (the Lark Bunting) to symbolize the “love birds” and to reflect the CO wedding locale, a directional compass to highlight the Atlas theme, airplanes to reflect the couples world travel, and hearts to symbolize their LOVE!  FUN FUN FUN!

This Atlas Map Wedding Invitation suite is a pocket-fold with 3 total cards and 2 envelopes in the set – Invite, RSVP, and a Directions card. It comes with a custom mailing address label wrap, custom envelope liner, custom matching address label for RSVP envelope, and a custom personalized monogram detail. The entire set is a matte finish product but can be upgraded to a metallic finish for additional charge. More enclosure cards can be added to the set as well for additional charge – Reception card, Transportation card, Information card, etc.

If you’re a bride who wants to “theme” your wedding but do not know how to go about it, I recommend to think about your “likes” and reflect on your personality and your fiance’s personality. This way, you can’t go wrong and it all totally makes sense! As for my client, she and the fiance are avid world travelers, so the Atlas Map theme makes sense.

Mark & Diane's wedding horizontal 3

Yea!!!   I am E X T R A excited to introduce everyone to my fiance & I’s personal Save The Date Card! Mark and I designed this modern save the date card together.  So, it was truly custom designed by the both of us! It was designed with love and excitement for sure! For this card, we had no idea what we wanted but we both decided it had to be “hip”, bold, modern, festive, and fun, with a touch of vintage!  So with this in mind, the design all started at my fingertips! With our wedding colors already finalized, I sat at my laptop and started designing and playing with graphics and layout.  And as usual, the design evolved and came to fruition! This is typically how all my fun and custom projects start out.  It’s always best to give the Designer “artistic freedom”!

And even better, with our wedding colors of black, white, and yellow, with accents in turquoise, we totally nailed the design, creating a totally “hip”, bold, and modern Save The Date!  With the scrolls and banner graphic our card has a touch of vintage, as it plays into our venue and fits our Nash Vegas locale as well!

We mailed these out just before the Christmas holidays, so we could hit two birds with one stone!  It worked out great, as we stuffed the envelopes with our modern save the date card and a personal photo Christmas card! We also decided to add an insert card to get our guests E X T R A excited for our big day! We listed our “Franklin Favorites” and “Sites to See” in the Franklin area.  I think for sure, we got all our guest’s drooling over all the great food and drink spots!

The brilliant turquoise accent color was incorporated into the design with the envelope and a graphic border on the card. All other details were in our main colors of black, white, and yellow. We used “rays” of dots and a double-lined diamond shaped checker board grid as a backdrop.  The set is designed with a mix of matte and metallic finished cardstocks.  As Frances Chamberlain (my Landscape Architecture studio professor at Clemson University) would say, “All great designs should be a “welcoming” design”.  And such is this one, as the bold black graphics “open their arms”.  As Emeril Lagasse would say, “BAM”!  That is the effect you get when you open and reveal this card! And that is exactly what Mark and I wanted!  It’s definitely over-the-top but that is exactly what Save The Dates are for! Make that first great impression!

The modern save the date is full of movement and detail!  We topped it off with a festive matching mailing wrap address label and envelope liner!  For our very close friends and family, we addressed the labels with their fun nicknames!

When a bride falls in love with her whimsical wedding cake, that inspiration may carry into all her other wedding details! This was true for a Bride I had worked with a few months ago. From the start, this bride knew exactly what she wanted and provided me with a photo image of her whimsical wedding cake. She even gave me the CMYK colors and font type that was used on her actual wedding invitations.  All these very important and specific details were incorporated into her custom table cards and escort cards.  The cake detailing entailed abstract flowers, spiraling vines, and leaflets. Go figure, this wonderful, whimsical, white iced wedding cake, with vibrant orange floral detailing, would win her heart!

With her heart “sold”, she desired to have her stationery details for the reception to reflect this exact look and “feel”.  From that one photo, I digitally re-created a close-to-perfect replication of her wedding cake graphics, which was used to create her custom table cards and escort cards.  These items were printed on white matte cardstock with graphics in orange and text in dark purple.  The spiraling floral graphics artistically entwine to the backside of the escort card as well. The table cards are tented and layered with orange matte cardstock. The vertical, upright form of the escort card is exemplified, as they were elegantly displayed in a formal linear setup making for a very bold statement and great tablescape.

Along with the tented table numbers at each table, two separate tent cards were made for other side tables at her reception. These cards were titled “Guest Book” and “Cards”.  I loved her modern take to the guest book, which was a large, white, ceramic plate, entirely signed by all her guests. This piece is both decorative and functional I believe! I also loved her modern take to the card box, which was a whimsical and elegant bird cage! With a fabulous destination wedding in Hawaii, you gotta have FABULOUS wedding invitations! It was true for this lucky Bride!  Black, gold, regal, luxurious, and damask, were her exact words! On top of that, she wanted her custom Luxury Wedding Invitation to be a Boxed Invitation!  And when a client tells me to just “run with it!”, it’s the greatest feeling in the world! As a Designer, this is “THE” top reason why I love my job!  If you need a Custom design, just contact me!

Her custom handcrafted Luxury Wedding Invitation is full of many unique details including vintage medallions, satin ribbon, feathers, decorative vellum, metallic cardstocks, and custom graphics. The black and gold color theme was spiced up with a “pop” of bright fuchsia/bright magenta-purple. This accent color was used as a feather detail which was placed on the outer box with a belly band box wrap. The belly band wrap is a fully customized print that features a graphic pattern and a custom personalized monogram that I designed. This box detail wraps around the entire lid and continues the detail on the inside of the box as well.

Gift boxed invitations are a great way to make an impression! From first glance, to opening the gift box, to then experiencing the cards inside, these are all the events your guests will enjoy with a gift boxed invitation! At first glance, their eyes widen with excitement! Remember, first impressions are last impressions! Then they open the extravagant box to reveal a regal invitation that has a vintage medallion that says “WOW”! Then they will untie the other cards and enjoy the entire set as each piece sparkles in gold metallic! A simple black matte box transformed into an extravagant gift boxed invitation!

This custom order was very unique, as each invite set featured a different medallion embellishment! All the great medallions reflected the same great look with all the black and gold details seen in each. The medallion as the focal point of the invitation card, was followed with a regal script font and custom damask graphics in black. The invitation card is detailed with many layers.  The print is layered with a decorative vellum, gold metallic cardstock, and backed with thick black matte board. The custom damask graphics are used through out the set on all the enclosure cards, which included an RSVP card, directions card, and a post-celebration card.

The enclosure cards are elegantly tied to the lid of the box with a black satin ribbon. All cards are printed on gold metallic cardstock. With a fabulous destination wedding, it’s a “must” to have a directions card. Having knowledge of the exact driving route to each of the wedding events, will help your guests feel more relaxed.

Each gift boxed invitation set will have to be gift wrapped and postage will need to be placed. This is another fun detail that you get to play with once you receive your invites and get them ready to mail out. You can use whatever fun gift wrap you want. For this set, I show a sample of the final packaged invite wrapped in gold metallic wrapping paper. All gift boxed invitations come with a matching custom mailing label.  For this set, the label is printed on gold metallic cardstock. This detail is attached with double-sided tape and placed on the box after its wrapped. A matching typical sized address label is also designed and provided for the RSVP envelopes!

All things gold, damask, and “blinged out” are on the way to Greece! This great enthusiastic mom from Greece was ready to make a bold statement for her extravagant and elegant Christening party for her son! She went all out with all her custom My Lady Dye stationery details!  She wanted it all in gold and all with a mustache theme!   Her stationery details included wardrobe tags or coat tags, valet parking key rings, food tent cards, prints, and a signature drink menu sign. Her colors are brown, gold, silver, and an olive-grey. Her accents of “bling” are reflected in all the clear rhinestones that were used everywhere! Her large up-scale party, for close friends and family, will be thrown in a downtown location in an amazing multi-level building! Hence, the need for her 1 1/2″ round scalloped key rings which are for the valet parking services. Seems like she might as well roll out the Red Carpet! They are a double-sided prints on gold metallic cover with individual numbers on one side and a damask print on the back-side. She will attach a metal key ring to each tag.

As guests arrive in style, they are welcomed to a coat hanging service where guests are given these fantastic wardrobe tags. Each guest to place their own tag into their pockets until they are ready to exit the party. The wardrobe tags are approximately 2″ square with one clear rhinestone centered on mustache graphic and are accommodated with a chocolate brown satin ribbon tie. The tag is a single-sided print on gold metallic cover with each individual number, damask graphics, border, and mustache graphic on front side. Then off to the next fabulous item, the tented food cards! These tent cards are sized 4″ x 5 1/4″ and printed on gold metallic cover. Damask graphics on both sides with front side layered with ivory metallic print with 4 large clear rhinestones (2 on each side). Her menu is soooooo fabulous that it literally made my mouth drool! Her dinner menu has great food items and desserts which included:

Red Velvet And Gingerbread Spice Mustache Pops Mustache Pops Gingerbread Spice Surprise Stripped Brownies Dotted Brownies Vanilla Cinnamon Little Man Cupcakes Pistachio Macarons Chocolate Macarons Millefeuille Éclair Brownie Pops Lemon Pies Crispy Duck rolls with plum sauce Asian Prawn Rolls with sweet and sour sauce Crab Rangoon with sweet chili sauce Sticks with jamon and chili scented pineapple Red Winter Salad with red wine vinaigrette Arugula Salad with dried figs, walnuts, and parmesan shavings Penne with smoked salmon and bric Beef Strips with ginger, pomegranate, honey, and prunes Citrus Scented Chicken Drumsticks with rosemary Sticks with BBQ pancetta Oven Roasted New Potatoes Rosemary Scented Pilaf Sweet Potato Mash with caramelized apples

Not only did she go all out on her food menu but she topped it off with an outstanding signature drink menu! This was the cherry on top of the sundae for sure! A fun drink menu title of “HandleBAR Mustache” (which is actually the name of the type of mustache we used on all her items), fun cocktail categories (of “In Fashion”, “Sexy”, and “Special”), smaller mustache graphics sprinkled throughout, and rhinestone embellishments was the perfect solution for her elegant sign! Her fabulous drink menu included:

POMEGRANATE CHAMPAGNE BLUSHING GEISHA (SAKE) NEW YORK APPLE MARTINI (VODKA) GINGER MOJITO (RUM) CUCUMBER MARTINI(GIN) RUM SOUR CAIPIROSKA PASSION FRUIT (VODKA) GINGER MARTINI (VODKA) VALENTINO (RASPBERRY VODKA) BARDOT MARTINI (CHAMPAGNE) BETWEEN THE SHEETS (RUM) SWEDISH KISS (CHAMPAGNE) SEX AND THE CITY (VODKA CITRUS) PINK MOJITO ROSE @PEPPER (RUM VX) TOMMY’S MARGUERITA (TEQUILA) MOJITO ROYAL SPICY MANGO (MASTIHA) BREAKFAST MARTINI (GIN) VERY MOSCOW MULE (VODKA) William Cole, Sauvignon Blanc, Chile (Wine) Tarapaca, Cabernet Frank, Syrah, Chile (Wine)

The signature drink menu sign is a tented sign sized 8 1/2″ x 11″ vertical, printed on gold metallic cover, and layered with a metallic ivory print. Tent feature is a thick black foam board material which makes for a durable, long lasting, and elegant item! The 6 extra large clear rhinestones topped it off in style and bling!

The custom prints she ordered are going to be used to gift wrap stacked Styrofoam pieces or blocks for the dessert pops and such. The damask graphics were printed on 8 1/2″ x 11″ gold metallic paper which she will cut and shape to fit her “boxes” for a matching themed dessert display.  This project was sooo much fun! I can not wait until the next project with her! Hope this project inspires you all again! Let me know what party you are planning to throw! Choa

Premiering “The Caroline Collection”, a Vintage Carnival Wedding Stationery collection! FUN FUN FUN! Last night, I designed this fun stationery for a new bride! Her festive beach wedding will be in mid-December of 2010 in fabulous M e x i c o !  Loving the “Shabby Chic” design and starfish beach tag, she knew she wanted both!  So, I took the two and ran with it, creating this fun new festive design!  It was just what she ordered, and as she stated, “Perfect for my wedding!”  The scroll work, circle shapes, and stripes add a lot of dimension and contrast to the design, as well as reflects that FUN carnival theme.  It’s whimsical yet bold and modern!

Her colors being yellow and pewter grey (a dark grey), with white.  Her set included escort cards, table tent cards, favor tags, and signage prints.

The favor tags will be used for gifts and attached to maracas, so guests can “Shake at the KISS!”.  What a fun idea! The signage will be elegantly placed into picture frames at the reception.  These prints are even more eye catching when enlarged as a poster for display or even modified into a matching guest seating chart!  Signage is very important at any event, especially at a wedding.  They are both functional and decorative.  What’s more fun than having all your wedding elements handcrafted and custom!  There are so many ways to add personal touches to your wedding!

I want this new design to catch the eyes of and to inspire other brides-to-be, event planners, moms, and everyone else who just wants to throw a party!  All my designs are fully customizable (colors, text, fonts) and they can even be used to inspire YOUR new custom design!
